On 13 September 2007, the General Assembly adopted the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples.
In 2008, the Human Rights Council established a new mechanism to provide thematic advice on the rights of indigenous peoples, the Expert Mechanism on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples.
The mandate of the Expert Mechanism is to provide thematic advice to the Human Rights Council on the rights of indigenous peoples in the form and manner requested by the Council.
The project consist in the production of a DVD, on the Expert Mechanism on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, in English and Spanish, to be used to raise awareness among indigenous peoples, civil society, national human rights institutions, governmental institutions and general public on the Expert Mechanism.
